Fluoride varnish plays an important role in delaying existing decay and preventing future decay. When used in combination with proper brushing, flossing, and nutrition, fluoride varnish is a powerful defense against cavities.
Fluoride varnish is completely safe and does not have any side effects. We apply this varnish to your child’s teeth in office at their regular checkups from the age of 6 months to 3 years of age. This sticky substance is applied to the front and side of teeth and hardens after just a few seconds. The procedure is completely pain-free and takes just a few minutes, making it an easy way to not only treat children but also get them accustomed to dental treatment.
After the varnish is applied, you’ll want to avoid crunchy foods for about 2 hours. This prevents the varnish from being scraped away and ensures you get maximum efficacy.
